These guys ported most of the useful (and open) apps you use daily to work on a thumb drive. Now you can carry most of these apps (and their configs, cache, bookmarks, passwords, etc…) anywhere. All you need is a thumb drive and an internet shop where they allow you to execute the apps.
The only limitation is the size of your thumb drive. But on a 128mb drive you can install portable Firefox, Abiword and Gaim which is enough to get by IMHO.
